This past week we had a trio of Sandhill Cranes decide to graze on some stray reed grass just outside of Carillon Stonegate Pond and the forest preserve. They dined for an hour or so before they decided to move on.
It is always a surprise to see the variety of birds and other wildlife that reside or visit or ponds and woodlands.
Take a hike and see what you can find – and identify!
